Eureka California Rated Great Place to Retire
The U.S. News & World Report has named Eureka, California as one of the Best Places to Retire. The publication's web site champions Eureka's weather, cultural attractions, economy, geography, historical value and recreation as among its desirable attributes for retirees. "Natural beauty is a hallmark of this Northern California City," states the report. Hiking, biking, boating and fishing are all sited, along with the area's redwood forests, rugged shoreline and sandy beaches.

Eureka Near California Parks and Willderness Areas
When L.A. Times travel writer Hugo Martin needed a quick list of his favorite parks and wilderness areas in California, he took out his photo album, cranked up his memory and listed the places in the Golden State that really gave him the WOW factor! California Campgrounds
California is covered with campgrounds, hundreds of them. When the Ultimate Guide to California decided to list the top five, it was no surprise that one of them is just a half hour drive from Eureka. Patrick's Point State Park is credited with its excellent campgrounds, beautiful lagoons, beaches, redwood, fir and pine forests, meadows, and cool summer weather.
